Car accident on Gulf Freeway at Almeda Genoa injures two
There was a major car accident this morning on the southbound Gulf Freeway near Almeda Genoa. A car lost control around 8:00 a.m., hitting the railing on the Edgebrook overpass. The car then spun across the freeway hitting a pickup truck, then hit the railing on the opposite side of the freeway and flipped over. Fire fighters cut two people out of the car: the driver was helicoptered to Memorial Hermann and the passenger was taken by ambulance. Investigators told Houston’s Channel 11 that alcohol may be a factor in the accident; the freeway was closed for three hours while police investigated.
