An early morning accident involving several vehicles and at least one death in blocking several southbound lanes of US 59 this morning.  Last night’s severe thunderstorms in the Houston area may have been a factor, but Channel 13’s article doesn’t state a cause for the wreck.

Brown convention center when a pickup truck entered the Eastex Freeway heading the wrong way and hit a car head-on, after which a third car hit both those vehicles. Head-on crash on FM 1960 near Artesian Way – elderly man killed

Police believe speeding contributed to a  four vehicle accident on FM 1960 near Arestian Road that seriously injured several and killed and killed an elderly driver. Leo Anders with HCSO said that witnesses reported a white-colored Chevy Silverado pickup truck veered into oncoming traffic, striking three other vehicles including a red minivan, a green Jeep and a gray pickup truck. The Jeep rolled onto its side in a ditch.  The elderly driver of the gray pickup truck did not survive the accident: his truck and the white Silverado crashed head-on. Investigators think speed contributed to the accident, but not alcohol. Four people were transported from the accident scene, two by ground ambulance and two by air ambulance.

Channel 2 News is reporting that 3 people were injured in a 5 car accident last night, and Channel 13 is reporting that at least one person was killed: as is typically the case with serious motor vehicle accidents on a Friday night, drunk driving is suspected.  Apparently at around 11:30 p.m. a black-colored SUV was weaving in and out of lanes when it clipped a car, causing the car to spin out and collide with the SUV.  After the initial accident, a pickup truck stopped for the crash and was then struck from behind by two additional vehicles. Michael Bisotooni identified as victim of accident caused by red light runner

Harris County Sheriff’s Office has identified Michael Bisotooni as the driver killed in an intersection accident last night in Houston, and a driver who ran a red light is being blamed. HCSO investigators told Channel 13 News that a blue Chevrolet pickup was speeding northbound in the 1000 block of Mason and ran a red light at the Interstate 10 feeder road just after 9:00 p.m. The Chevy smashed into a westbound Toyota Tacoma, driven by Michael Bisotooni. The Toyota then spun out and hit a Pontiac waiting at the red light on Mason. Deputies say the 21-year old male driving the Chevy pickup admitted to “having a few beers” but he passed a field sobriety test. Woman killed in alleged drunk driving wreck on Old Galveston Road

Police suspect the driver of a GMC Envoy was drunk when he (allegedly) ran a red light and caused a fatal collision in southeast Houston last night.  The three car accident happened at the intersection of Old Galveston Road and Edgebrook.  Police say the man was driving the GMC Envoy on Old Galveston Road when he crashed into a white-colored Honda Civic that was in the intersection; the Civic then collided with an Isuzu Trooper SUV.  From Channel 13’s picture of the crash scene it appears the Civic sustained major damage, primarily to the driver’s side front corner.  Tragically a female passenger in the Civic died in the accident.  When officers came to the scene they found the driver of the GMC Envoy hiding in bushes: he was taken to the hospital in serious condition. It is expected the man will be charged with driving while intoxicated and possibly intoxication manslaughter. A story posted this morning to Channel 11 news’ web site states that the driver of the Honda Civic is also expected of driving drunk, and he will be charged with DWI too.
