A Houston Police Department officer is lucky to be alive after his patrol car was struck by a pickup truck in a major car accident on US 290 at Hollister Road. Investigators say the office was using his patrol car to block traffic while working the scene of another accident when his vehicle was struck at around 4:00 a.m. Both the police officer and the driver of the pickup truck were taken to hospital.  Channel 2 Houston’s story does not state whether the driver of the pickup was impaired, but someone hits a police car on the freeway at 4:00 a.m. in Houston, the probability of alcohol involvement is extremely high.

Two adults and three children were hospitalized after a serious car accident at 1:15 a.m. on the Southwest Freeway feeder at Grand Parkway in Sugar Land. According to Channel 11’s report a white Ford pickup truck crashed into the side of a small, black-colored Nissan hatchback traveling northbound on Grand Parkway. Life Flight was called for at least one patient, others were transported by ground ambulance. The driver of the pickup was treated at the scene for minor injuries: the news story did not indicate which driver ran the red light.

Seven people were injured in an accident near the Houston Medical Center yesterday when a METRO light rail train collided with a Ford Expedition SUV. The crash happened just after 1:00 p.m. as the METRO was heading southbound along Fannin and Montrose. Two train passengers were transported to a hospital and five passenger received treatment at the scene. Nobody in the SUV was injured, but the SUV driver received a citation for making an illegal left turn. Channel 11’s story is here.

A child was killed Monday following an intersection collision between a car and a pickup truck at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Thrush Drive. Police say a black car was heading northbound on MLK and the tan-colored Ford F-150 pickup was heading southbound on Thrush. The cars collided, causing the black car to mount the sidewalk where it struck a woman walking with a child. Both were rushed to hospital, but sadly the child later died. Police said neither of the drivers were issued citations for the accident. Channel 2’s story here.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office has identified Michael Bisotooni as the driver killed in an intersection accident last night in Houston, and a driver who ran a red light is being blamed. HCSO investigators told Channel 13 News that a blue Chevrolet pickup was speeding northbound in the 1000 block of Mason and ran a red light at the Interstate 10 feeder road just after 9:00 p.m. The Chevy smashed into a westbound Toyota Tacoma, driven by Michael Bisotooni. The Toyota then spun out and hit a Pontiac waiting at the red light on Mason. Deputies say the 21-year old male driving the Chevy pickup admitted to “having a few beers” but he passed a field sobriety test. Michael Bisotooni appears to be affiliated with local business Four Seasons Valet Parking LLC and was in his early 50’s.

A car accident at around 9:10 a.m. this morning outside Smith & Hassler’s office on the 610 North Loop at Ella Boulevard is already causing a significant backup of the westbound lanes.  A full size pickup truck and a smaller sedan, possibly a Nissan Sentra or Nissan Altima were involved. The pickup truck appeared to sustain minimal damage and after a fairly brief conversation between the drivers, the pickup truck drove away. The wrecked car is currently blocking the two far right lanes.

A car accident on Highway 290 at Antoine around 3:30 a.m. involved one fatality. Two vehicles were involved, a dark-colored sedan and a mid-size SUV that appears to be a Toyota Forerunner. Channel 13’s report from the scene indicated someone was ejected from one vehicle, though which vehicle wasn’t clear. From the damage to the vehicles it appears the car rear ended the SUV causing the Toyota to spin out, however police are still investigating. All westbound lanes of Highway 290 were closed to traffic as police worked the accident scene.

One killed in car accident at US290 and Antoine

A crash between a Precinct 6 Constable‘s patrol vehicle and a passenger van from the Iglesia de Cristo Fuente de Vida church sent five people to the hospital Wednesday. The accident happened at 4006 Navigation near North York. Authorities say deputies were responding to a call with lights and sirens operating when the white van pulled away from a stop sign, failing to yield the right-of-way to the deputies. Three people in the van and two deputy constables were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital, fortunately none suffered life-threatening injuries. Read Channel 2’s report here. Three vehicles collided in Spring, Texas around 7:30 p.m. Saturday at FM 1960 and Millstone Drive leaving one driver dead and another seriously injured.  The vehicles involved were a blue-colored Scion four door car, an SUV and a pickup truck. Detective say the crash sent the pickup truck off the roadway, causing it to strike a utility pole and land in parking lot. The driver of the pickup truck died at the scene, and the Scion driver was taken to hospital in serious condition. Channel 2’s article is here.

Two Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies were injured in a car accident January 1, 2013. HCSO said the accident happened at around 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of FM 1960 and Veterans Memorial. The deputies were on their way to join a vehicle pursuit when a citizen made an illegal u-turn, colliding with the police car and flipping it over. One of the deputies was temporarily trapped.
