Car accident claims Hempstead High School teacher
Family, colleagues and students are mourning the loss of Hempstead High School teacher Randall Lacey, killed in a collision on Highway 105 Saturday. Authorities say the driver of a pickup truck was traveling the opposite direction from Lacey when the pickup lost control and struck Lacey’s red-colored Mini Cooper head-on. Emergency crews had to free Lacey from the wreckage: he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Lacey taught career and technical education and had been a teacher at Hempstead High for 8 years. He is survived by his wife Amy, who is the principal of Hempstead Elementary School, and four children. A fund, the Randall Lacey CTE Memorial Scholarship, has been set up in his memory and donations are being received through Hempstead I.S.D. Channel 11’s report indicates it was raining at the time of the crash. FOX News’ report is here. KBTX’ story is here.
